Rally Ready — Part 1
Beginner Course Part 1
4 consecutive Mondays, 8pm to 10pm
What you’ll cover
Serving and returning with purpose
- Goal: Hit deep, consistent serves and returns that stay in the court every time.
- Tactic: Learn exactly where to stand after you hit so you’re never caught out of position for the Two-Bounce Rule.
The ready position and the punch volley
- Goal: Build a stable stance so you’re always prepared, no matter how fast the ball comes.
- Tactic: Master the short punch motion to keep the ball in front of you and away from your feet.
Forehand and backhand groundstrokes
- Goal: Feel confident hitting from the back of the court with both sides of your paddle.
- Tactic: Learn to hit with enough height to stay safe and keep the rally going.
Dinking and net play at the kitchen
- Goal: Learn to play at the Non-Volley Zone (NVZ) without stepping in by mistake.
- Tactic: Master the soft game — the dink — and learn how to wait for the right high ball to safely finish the point.

Class Confirmation Policy
- Classes require a minimum of 4 participants to proceed
- If the minimum is not met by 48 hours before the session, you will be notified and a full-refund in credits will be given, so that you can book the next class at your convenience.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the session: full refund issued as credits
- Cancellations within 48 hours of the session: no refund, but your slot is transferable — you’re welcome to pass it to someone else
Rain Policy
- If heavy rain occurs before the session begins, the class will be rescheduled. You will be notified by the facilitator and offered a place in another upcoming session of your choice
- If rain occurs mid-session, a credit refund will be issued as well but prorated in 30-minute blocks based on time remaining. Credits can be used for your next class.
Indemnity & Participation Agreement
By registering for and participating in a Smashing Pickle event, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Participation is entirely at your own risk
- The organisers shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, damage, or accident sustained during the event
- You confirm that you are medically fit to participate and agree to stop playing immediately if you feel unwell
- You consent to photography and videography taken during the event, which may be used for social media, marketing, and promotional purposes without compensation
